October 2011
Kicking off October in Ireland and I just wanted to take this opportunity to answer the frequently asked question posed by customers based outside Ireland, where can they buy Sian Jacobs cashmere?
Well, I am pleased to announce that you can now buy online through www.style-tonic.com, a website that specializes in Irish Designers.
Havana Scarf Sparked ScarfAugust 2011
Lots going on this month but first I am getting amazing interest in my new addition - the shearling jacket, coat and gilet. See images attached. The seasonally savvy are ahead of the pack and placing orders. Its available in several colours and is made to order, so it takes about 4 weeks. Contact me for details on prices and to order one.
June 2011
Last week, I went to a private viewing of 'Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera: Masterpieces of the Jacque and Natasha Gelman collection' It was really interesting and inspiring and I have been a longtime fan. It was so civilized to be guided through by an art expert that could give you the background to the collection.
So, big thanks to LeCool, Dublin for organizing the evening.
Natasha Gelman by Diego Rivera: beautifully stylized, I really like the way the Calla lilies are repeated in the shape of her dress. 'Diego on my Mind' by Frida Kahlo: Diego is her third eye and the Tehuana head-dress is impressive. 'Frida on White Bench' by Nikolas Muray: I loved these series of photographs shot by her lover in New York, 1946.April 2011
My news page is fast becoming a travelogue as I am 'outta town' yet again in NYC, its chilly over here and I am oh so glad I took cashmere with me as it's perfect for traveling, lightweight but warm.
Part of my research here involves checking out stores and boutiques and yesterday I finally got to visit ABC Home on Broadway http://www.abchome.com/ It is a beautiful interior and lifestyle store which is just the kind of thing I love. I am really interested in interiors and would far rather flick though an interior magazine than a fashion one and I find the crossover between fashion and interiors fascinating.
March 2011
I can't believe the month is nearly over, the clock goes forward at the weekend , the sky is bright and sunny and yesterday I had coffee with a friend and she wasn't even wearing socks! Imagine! But, yes, it's time for shedding a few layers.
Last weekend I was in Cornwall for the first time, I have wanted to go for years and it didn't disappoint, I hope to go back again this year and do more exploring. I visited Barbara Hepworth's studio in St Ives and was mesmerized by her workspace and the chalky white walls and the artful tonality of the space. If you look closely at the photo you can see my two friends reflected in the mirror of the studio wall - a nod to the dutch masters...
During the week I was delighted to be asked to help judge the DIT fashion show semi finals which is kindly sponsored by Alfa Romeo and the theme was bad romance and I think I heard Lady Gaga mentioned a few times....
The standard was really high with some great designs and some outstanding craftsmanship, showing some skills that I certainly wasn't capable of when I was a student.
Here is a pic of some of the finalists.
February 2011
It's been a busy few weeks with a trip to London mid February to take part in a fashion trade fair. I was a runner up in a competition called Next Generation, to find new and upcoming designers. The event was on in Earls Court and there were lots of interesting faces and fashion milling around.
My Stand
The poster for Next Generation - look out for my cashmere Wawa Sweater and Silver Featherette scarf!
Back in Ireland, I went to visit one of my customers, Emporium Kalu in Naas. They have all lovely new Spring Summer 2011 stock in store now and I was struck by their display of scarves of mine and the lovely soft muted shades they had selected.
Sophie Dennehy photography
I was at a surprise birthday last night and my friend, Sophie Dennehy, took some great photos, she is extremely talented with clever eye for the abstract.
Here's one she took with me as a prop, an exterior shot she trudged through a mucky back garden in high winds to use a wheelie bin as a tripod.
This is another one, a special commission of mine of clothes on a rail. I love the gossamer floatiness she managed to achieve over the different textures.

October 2010
Thanks to all who attended the Fashion Event, and bagged themselves lots of beauticious bargains. It was a relaxed event at Odessa Club, browsing through rails, listening to laidback tunes and nipping downstairs to refuel on Huevos Rancheros.
